A ridiculously unpleasant time and a huge disappointment as someone who wanted to love the experience. I get that you’ve done this dozens of times, but your guests have not. This could have been an amazing experience, but the complete lack of care or regard for the quality of the experience for the guests is it’s ultimate downfall. The constant snarky remarks and belittling attitude were extremely off-putting and the whole group clearly loathed being with this character. By then it was too late and the group morale was already ruined. Only then did people feel welcome to help with the puzzles. At a certain point the “Bailey” character “dies” and our whole group was relived and cheered when she was removed from our presence. Being spoken down to and yelled at is not the way to get people engaged in the experience, if anything it ruins the whole experience for all involved. The Drill Sargent attitude wasn’t encouraging, it completely sucked the air out of the room and made the participants not want to try. It got to the point where her yelling at us was so disruptive to the experience that our entire group fell silent and gave up on trying to complete the puzzles. Not only is this character mostly unhelpful, but she actively discouraged people from talking and problem solving. I didn’t pay $50 to have someone yell in my face for a majority of the experience. You are rushed through the maze so quickly that working together in such a large group is essentially impossible.īy far the worst part of the experience is when the character “Bailey” is introduced. Key instructions and rules for the experience were missed because the staff couldn’t wait to have everyone be seated and ready. From the beginning I felt as though the staff did not care to give us a good experience, the first sign of this was when they played the introduction video as people were still coming in. You would think an experience that relies so heavily on teamwork would provide us a time for introductions. We were never given a designated time to meet our fellow players. We went through the maze as a group of 12 strangers and while I understand private groups are a luxury, groups this large are not at all compatible with the gameplay. While the actual sets were great, the structure of the gameplay does not set guests up for success. No exaggeration, and this is coming from a lifelong Saw fan / fan of all things horror. The worst escape room experience of my life. If you’re a fan of the Saw franchise, give it a try. Some rooms felt pointless while some felt like they needed to be in a different order. I think the overall story could have been better and that the rooms should have been reorganized. Had it not been for the help we received I’m not sure we would have completed this on time as tasks were not clear and at times we felt lost on what to do next. We were told most people pick medium so we did too. You are asked at the beginning if you’d like assistance during your time from a scale of none, medium, or easy. The tasks can be a bit overwhelming at times as there isn’t a lot of clear instruction. At times you will feel like you’re in one of the movies. The overall Devore fits with the Saw franchise, it’s creepy and done very well. I can’t go into a lot of details otherwise it would spoil it for others. I will say that there was some confusion at the beginning of the adventure and at times it was chaotic. As a fan of the Saw franchise I had to do this escape room.
